William Truxton Mifflin V, age 73, passed away Thursday, December 3rd 2020 with his wife, the former Sandra Hurley of Pennsville, by his side.
Born and raised in Salem, he graduated from Salem High School in 1966 and went on to attend Lindsey Wilson College in Kentucky. He then served in the NJ National Guard for 8 years. He was the owner of William T Mifflin Insurance & Real Estate Agency for over 50 years. “Trux” was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1966, Penns Grove Excelsior Lodge #54 Scottish Rite 32nd Degree and the Salem Boating Club. He volunteered with Washington Fire Company since 1970 in many capacities including Chief Engineer for Engine 6-3 for over 25 years. Trux was an avid boater and cat lover. In addition to his wife of 51 years, Sandy, he is survived by his daughter Brittany Samuels (Mark) and grandchildren Brandon, Brooke and Brenna Samuels, brother-in-law, William “Bill” Hurley (Juanita) and nieces Beth and Breanne Hurley. Trux was predeceased by his parents Ruth (nee Hurley) and William Truxton Mifflin IV.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Donations in lieu of flowers can be sent to Washington Fire Department, 374 East Broadway, Salem, NJ 08079.
