William Russell (Skip) Wentzell, Jr., age 77, of Vineland went home to be with his heavenly father on Thursday, August 10, 2023 with his daughters by his side.
He was the son of the late William and Jeanette Elder Wentzell. Skip was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Vietnam War. His two favorite things were spending time with his family and serving his community. He was a talker and never met a stranger. In the last few years he enjoyed riding around in his scooter entertaining, chatting with, and advocating for his fellow residents and health care professionals at the Veterans Home. Left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Daneen Olanovich (Paul) of Wilmington, NC and Kristina Till of Pennsville; one sister, Mary Sparacio of Woodstown; five grandchildren, Blake Olanovich, Seth Olanovich, Alexis Till, Morris Till, Marissa Till and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two sisters, Janice Swafford and Carol O’Neil.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 613 Salem Quinton Road, Salem, NJ, 08079 (Quinton Twp.) where friends are invited to visit from 10:00 am until time of service. Burial will follow the service in the Salem County Veterans Cemetery, 719 NJ-45, Pilesgrove, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to N.J.
Veterans Memorial Home, 524 North West Boulevard, Vineland, NJ 08360. The family would like to thank the staff at the Veterans Home for their loving, compassionate care.
