William “Rex” Cobb Obituary


William Rex Cobb, 72, of Cobb’s Mill passed away at his home on February 24, 2022. 

“Rex” as he was better known was raised and resided at Cobb’s Mill, Alloway, NJ his entire life. He was the owner/operator of Cobb’s Mill which was a family-owned business. Rex held various political offices for Alloway Township and Salem County which included being a board member for Salem County Utilities Authority and the Salem County Mosquito Commission. His township positions included mayor and the head of Emergency Management. He was a member of the NJ Forest Fire Service for over fifty years and a founding member of Cobb’s Mill Volunteer Fire Department. He also served in the National Guard for seven years. Rex was very proud of his tractor collection and always had multiple tractor restoration projects going on. He also enjoyed motoring around the neighborhood on his golf cart. His favorite pastime during the summer was keeping the grass mowed for many of his family members. Rex was predeceased by his parents, William Alexander Cobb and Mary Wood Cobb and his sister Connie Richman.

Rex is survived by his wife of almost fifty years Helen (Davis) Cobb, two sons, William Jason Cobb (Sara) and James Cobb (Rebecca) and one daughter Elizabeth Brooks (Jeff). He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Evan Harding, Annabelle Cobb, Mason Cobb, Libby Cobb, Ellenore Cobb, Aubrey Brooks, Tice Cobb, Faye Brooks and Mack Cobb.

A church visitation will be held at Emanuel Lutheran Church Saturday, March 5th from 9:30am to 11:00am followed by a memorial service at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rex may be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church at 366 Cohansey-Friesburg Rd, PO Box 363, Elmer, NJ 08318.
