William “Bill” Loufik Obituary

William “Bill” Loufik, age 93, of Quinton, NJ died peacefully Tuesday, August 30, 2022 after a short hospital stay, with his wife Mildred by his side.

He was born August 17, 1929 in Philadelphia, PA. a son of Charles and Mae (Stanton) Loufik. After moving to Mannington, NJ. where he worked for several dairy farms in his youth, he graduated from Salem High School, Class of 1949. Bill married his high school classmate, Mildred Johnson shortly before enlisting in the U.S. Army, where he served in the Korean War in 1951. Upon his return, he was employed as a lineman and troubleman for Atlantic City Electric, where he retired after 37 years.

Bill was a member of the Quinton Baptist Church, and served with numerous local organizations:  Salem County Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, Boots and Saddle Riding Club, and Quinton Ruritan Club.  He served as president of the Salem County Mosquito Commission and president of the Quinton Township School Board.  He was elected to the Quinton Township Committee in 1970, where he served 30 years, approximately half of that time as Mayor.

Bill enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, and in the summer months could most often be found on the beach between 58th & 60th St., Ocean City. He enjoyed gardening, with his pole lima beans being his pride and joy.  And he always looked forward to watching his Phillies and Eagles.  Bill was truly a people person, a true family man serving his God, his family, his country and his community.

Bill is survived by his wife Mildred, a son Richard (Jodie) Loufik of Pilesgrove, NJ., a son Dennis (Sharon) Loufik of Suitland, Md., seven grandchildren, William Lynnann, Ashley, Joshua, Emily, Micah, and Jonathan, and three great-grandchildren, Scout, Lucas, and Bo.  Bill was predeceased by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
