Wayde Allen, age 74, of Quinton Township, passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Mannington,
Wayde was the son of the late Wilmer and Lena (Strang) Allen. From an early age, Wayde knew that he wanted to be a farmer. He founded Allen Farms, Inc. in 1978, and over the next 50+ years, he farmed over a thousand acres throughout Salem and Cumberland counties growing a variety of vegetables and grains. Wayde took great pride in his fields which were known for their super straight and weedless rows. He enjoyed driving his custom painted Freightliner which he used to haul countless loads of grain and stone, and recently, logs that he cut and loaded himself. Wayde worked tirelessly even after he ‘retired,’ and his work ethic and determination will never be matched. He was always willing to help his fellow farmers and was well respected among them. Wayde was an avid hunter who looked forward to the gathering of his Seven Oaks Hunting Club each year. He shared his hunting ground with many friends over the years, always making sure that they had the best spots. Wayde loved his family, and his children and grandchildren will always value the lifelong lessons, skills, and beliefs that he instilled in them.
Wayde is survived by his wife of 49 years Marge (Emel), his children Brad, Melanie, Julie (Glenn Hofacker), and Matthew, and his grandchildren Brad Jr. and Cara Allen and Hunter and Hazel Hofacker. He is also survived by his sister Kay (William) Fox as well as many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
