Velma Jean Weaver, age 85, formerly of Salem, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 21st at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and John Maxwell in Hancocks Bridge.
Born in Prunytown, WV, she was the daughter of the late Rolla and Carmen Gall Varner. Velma was a lifelong waitress working at the Mariner, Wild Oaks Country Club and the Williamsburg Restaurant. She was a member of the Trimmer Baptist Church, TX and a member of Beta Sigma Phi. Velma enjoyed camping at the Cape May beach. Family was everything to Velma and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. In addition to her daughter and son-in-law, Velma is survived by her son, Mark Weaver (Sharon) of Killeen, TX; sisters, Ruby Stevens (Jerry) of Clarksburg, WV and her twin sister, Thelma McCue of Elizabeth WV; eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. Velma is predeceased by her husband, Dorsey and her son, Alan Weaver.
Services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, August 5th in WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 613 Salem Quinton Rd., Salem, NJ 08079 (Quinton Twp.) where family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Lawnside Cemetery, Pilesgrove. Contributions in Velma's memory may be made to the Trimmer Baptist Church, 6405 Chaparral Rd., Killeen, TX 76547.
