Obituary

Roy E. Sickler, 84, passed away Mon., February 21, 2022.

He was a lifelong resident of Alloway, NJ before moving to Iowa with his son, Kevin.  Roy graduated from Woodstown High School then joined the Marine Corp. and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan from 1956-1959.  After returning home, Roy met Margaret Jane Griffith and they married in May of 1960.  He worked at the NJ turnpike for more than 30 years before his retirement.  Roy was involved in coaching the Alloway Little League and also coached the Woodstown Pirates from the late 60's to mid 70's.  He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing with his sons, Kevin and Dwayne.  Roy is survived by his sons, Kevin (Cindy) of Clinton, Iowa and Dwayne (Renee) of Alloway; his grandson, Keith of Mantua, NJ; his granddaughter, Alison (Ryan) Hollis of Fayetteville, NC; great grandson, Maverick Hollis; and brother-in-law, Clyde (Mary) Griffith of Mantua.  He is predeceased by his parents, Roy E. and Marie F. Halter Sickler, Sr. who both passed away on 6/1/1971 from an automobile accident.  He is also predeceased by his loving wife, Margaret, in February 2010 and his sister, Dorothy Sickler Richie, in February 2022.  Roy was a pillar of the community and will be sorely missed by many.

He did not want a funeral and per his wishes, we will have a private service.  We kindly ask, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roy's memory to Alloway Fire Company, PO Box 875, Alloway, NJ 08001 or to the Alloway Youth League, PO Box 446, Alloway, NJ 08001.
