Michael H. Fisher

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Michael H. Fisher, age 84, of Hancock’s Bridge NJ on Friday, April 4, 2025 surrounded by his family.  Born on February 25, 1941 he was the son of the late Hildreth M. and Kathryn (Schoener) Fisher.

Michael made a career out of glassblowing, after graduating from the first glassblowing class at Salem Community College. He retired from DuPont chambers works in Deepwater, NJ, May 31,1998.  Michael was an avid outdoorsman. He especially enjoyed spending time duck hunting and crabbing with his sons and grandchildren. He also loved watching his grandkids play sports and planting his garden. 

He was a World Champion decoy carver and was a gold sponsor of Salem County Ducks unlimited.  He donated many hand carved decoys to support DU conservation.  Michael was a member of the Lower Alloways Creek Fire & Rescue Company. He designed the Maltese cross with the muskrat that was used on the 1974 Mack. 

He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years Barbara (Baker), his sons, Michael (Bernadette) Fisher and Brett (Kelly) Fisher; his grandchildren, Kelli (Craig) Shuman, Felisha, Zachary, and Joshua Fisher; his great-grandchildren, Connor and Olivia Shuman; his sister, Anne Todd and his sister-in-law, Jacquelyn McManus; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers, William and George and his sister, Kathryn Warfle. 

Services will be held 12:00 noon, Thursday April 10, 2025 at WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 613 Salem Quinton Rd., Salem, NJ 08079 (located in Quinton Twp.) where family and friends may visit between between 10:00 until time of service. Burial will follow at Hancocks Bridge United Methodist Cemetery, Harmersville Pecks Corner Rd.
