Melvin R. Sowers, age 91, of Lower Alloway's Creek passed away Monday, March 17th 2025 at Inspira Medical Center, Elmer, NJ.
Born in Salem, NJ, he was the son of the late Frank and Jane Smith Sowers. Melvin was a machinist for E.I. DuPont Company Chambers Works. He was a US Air Force Veteran serving as a radio man during the Korean War. Melvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, crabbing and going to Country Music concerts. He was a former member of the Lower Alloway's Creek Fire Department.
Melvin is survived by his sons, Bruce Sowers (Terry) of Quinton, John Sowers of Cedarville, Mark Sowers (Debbie) of Cedarville and Tom Sowers (Kathy) of Marco Island, FL; his companion, Yvonne Evans of Pennsville; his grandchildren, Ryan Sowers, Bob Hart (Kelly), Harry Murphine, Margaret Brandt, Ryan Man and Chloe Benianti; his great grandchildren, Micah,Gabe, Braya, Nick, Andrew, Delilah, Willow, Lucia and Braya. Melvin is predeceased by his wife, Virginia Bonner Sowers.
Graveside Services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 29th 2025 in St. Mary's Cemetery, 8 Grieves Parkway, Salem, NJ 08079.
