Martha Jane Smith

Martha Jane Smith, age 90, of Alloway, New Jersey passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on Wednesday, May 1st 2024, surrounded by family.

Born in Scranton, PA on May 12th 1933, she was the only child of Harriet E. Smith and Robert B. Smith. She graduated from Ridley Park High School in 1951 and attended classes at Salem Community College. She retired as a legal secretary for the firm of Elzufon, Austin and Mondell, Wilmington, Delaware and was also an extremely popular Avon representative. She had a beautiful singing voice and sang with the Sweet Adeline’s for many years. She was a long-time member of the Alloway Baptist Church and a previous member of the Marcus Hook Baptist Church, Marcus Hook, PA. She donated during her life to Ranch Hope in Alloway, New Jersey, the Salvation Army and St. Jude’s.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband of fifty-two years, Donald R. Smith, Sr. and her stepson, Michael Smith. She is survived by her four children, Herb L. Daley (Roberta), Robert A. Daley (Alison), David A. Daley (Linda), Lisa H. Turner (Kevin) and her stepchildren, Donald R. Smith, Jr. (Lila) and Thomas Smith (Krista). She also had many grandchildren and great grandchildren who loved her dearly.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 6th 2024, at WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 613 Salem Quinton Road, Salem, NJ 08079 (Quinton Twp.) Viewing will begin at 11:00 AM with services at 12:00 noon, followed by interment at Alloway Baptist Church Cemetery. All in attendance are invited to attend a memorial banquet at 2:00 PM at The Grove at Centerton, 1022 Almond Rd, Pittsgrove, NJ 08318.
