Lorraine “Jody” (Hughes) Evans

It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Lorraine (Jody) Evans, 78, of Salem, NJ. Lorraine passed away peacefully with family by her side on October 14, 2025.

Lorraine is preceded in death by her mother, the late Margaret (Stiles) Hughes and Father, Irvin Hughes, as well as 2 brothers, John and Dennis Hughes. Lorraine leaves behind her husband of 53 years Marlond J. Evans Jr and 5 sons, - Marlond John Evans III, Harry Evans (Alvina), Tom Evans (Deb), Gary Hogate Jr. (Christal) and David Evans (Kirsten), 2 Brothers and 5 sisters as well as 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Lorraine graduated from Pennsville High School and Salem County Vocational School where she earned her certificate In Cosmetology. Lorraine opened her own shop (Jody’s Style Shop). Lorraine also worked at the old GC Murphy store and Coastal Mart in Salem. She also worked with her sister Kay at Kay’s Styling Salon. Lorraine enjoyed going to Wildwood with her grandchildren and walking the boardwalk. Lorraine enjoyed her trips to New Mexico, North Carolina and Virginia to visit family and grandkids. Lorraine enjoyed the Septemberfest where she helped run Evans’ Roast Beef Stand for years and would catch up with family and friends.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Autumn Lake Salem County for their compassionate care.
