Loretta M. Boon, aged 80, passed away peacefully at home on February 4, 2025.
She was born on May 29, 1944 to the late Charles N. Mathis and Ruth E. Mathis (Samuels). Loretta was a lifelong resident of Salem, NJ and a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1962. On February 8, 1964, Loretta married Edward “Tink” Boon. They enjoyed nearly 61 years of marriage and became parents to two daughters, Michele (Collins) and Paula (Clour-Wolf). During her life, Loretta was employed by the Salem Memorial Hospital and Flowers by Ford. She enjoyed yearly vacations to Ocean City, NJ and dinners at Salem Oak Diner. Loretta had many creative hobbies, most notably, photography. Many loved ones have been photographed by NBC (Nana Boon’s Camera) over the years. Loretta never knew a stranger, and cherished her lifelong friendships with Donna, Barbara, and Nancy. She will be missed for all of the laughs and good times that were had in her presence. She is survived by her husband, Tink; daughters, Michele and Paula (David); grandchildren: Lindsay, Brandon, Charlie, and Nate; great-grandson Caiden; and brothers: Mike (Joann) and Jon (Lisa), and their families.
Services will take place at WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 613 Salem Quinton Rd., Salem, NJ 08079 (located in Quinton Twp.) on Saturday, February 8th at 11am, with visitation beginning at 9am until time of service. Burial will be at the Salem Baptist Cemetery, York Street, Salem, NJ 08079. A luncheon will be held at the Salem Eagles following a graveside burial.
