Lois was a lifelong resident of Canton, NJ. She married Harry E. Beal in 1958 having celebrated 65 years of marriage this past April. She was mother of four devoted daughters and grandmother to 12 “grands” who were precious and perfect in her sight: first daughter Amy Edwards and her children Nathaniel, Tyler (Katie), and Preston (Amanda); second daughter Lisa Humes (Mark) and her children Amna (Damon) and Ayesha (Mitch); third daughter Mary Dilks (Jeffrey) and her children Tabitha (Mike), Hannah, and Alayna; and fourth daughter April Haley (Patrick) and her children Harry “Hank” (Emily), Jenna, P.J., and Patience. Lois was furthermore blessed with six great grandchildren Brayden, Adalyn, Aria, Meadow, Brea and Monroe.
“Queen Bee”, as she was known to her family, was an integral part of several enterprises she and her husband created and ran over the years including Maskell’s Mill Fur Market, Maskell’s Mill Farm, Maskell’s Mill Nursery, Queen Bee Crab Company, and Queen Bee Ranch. In addition, she drove a school bus for 20 years. Her family was foremost, but other joys included a love of horses which started at an early age with her asparagus cart pulling mare, Maude. She developed a keen passion in breeding, buying, selling, and rescuing horses which continues with her progeny. She found joy in baking, reading, playing the piano, singing, shopping, recounting family history, giving to causes dear to her, and art. She was a mnemonist. She loved vacationing in Ocean City, NJ and Chincoteague, VA. Lois was a prayerful woman who believed in the redemptive power of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. Now she rests whole and perfect in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
A memorial service has been planned for January 3, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Canton United Methodist Church. All are welcome.
