Joseph Gill Lippincott, Jr., 75, passed away on October 20th, surrounded by family, in Woodstown, NJ.
Son of Joseph Gill Lippincott, Sr, and Mary Lee Lippincott (Wright), he was born November 26, 1949, in Salem, NJ. "Gill", as he was known by friends and family, graduated from Salem High School in 1968 and was a proud member of Football's 1967 1st Team Tri-County Conference All-Stars - Lineman. Gill went on to graduate from the Salem Technical Institute in 1971 with a degree in Drafting and Design Engineering. Following school, Gill spent the bulk of his professional career in his Woodstown office providing Insurance and Financial Planning Services. In his free time, Gill dedicated himself to the service of others with the Reliance Fire Company and as the Emergency Management Coordinator of Woodstown. Gill loved being a part of the call to action and remained involved, even after retirement.
For enjoyment, Gill loved to be outdoors. He was a true huntsman. He grew up hunting on the marshes of Salem County, bringing home the catch of the day, and was a founding member of the Ten Bucks Hunt Club. Also an avid fisherman and waterman, Gill spent ample time on the water with his daughters, friends, and son-in-laws. He made lasting memories and laughter for all who enjoyed time with him.
He was preceded to heaven by his mother, father, sister Carol Lynn Lippincott, and brother Harris Keith Lippincott. He is survived by his loving wife Sylvia Buzby Lippincott, his children: Christy Lippincott Hunt (Walt) of Woodstown, NJ, Melanie Lippincott Zappone (Matthew) of Margate, NJ; Four grandchildren: Haley Hunt Robinson (Kross), Mason Hunt, Marina Zappone, and Mitchell Zappone; sister Cynthia Lippincott Eppley (Bob) of Ambler, PA and sisters-in-law Audrey Smith Lippincott Bennett (Paul) of Galena, MD, Eleanor Buzby Clemente (Phillip) of Woodstown, NJ and Peggy Buzby Harvey (John) of Woodstown, NJ as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Gill was a deeply beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He taught us the importance of family first, hard work, and doing what is right. His guiding hand and quiet strength will forever remain with us. While we lost our most beloved husband and father, many have lost a friend and loved one in him. He loved his friends as family. We invite you all to share pictures or memories.
