John Weber, Jr. Obituary

John H. Weber, Jr., age 74, of Elsinboro, passed away Saturday, December 25th in his home.

Born in Salem, he was the son of the late John H. Weber, Sr., and Ella Jean Haynes Weber. John was a graduate of Salem High School and the proud owner of Apple Blossom Farm.  While he enjoyed bowling and he could always be found at all of his children’s sporting events, farming was most definitely his life, even if his cows did manage to escape more than he would have liked.  He sat on the State Farmland Preservation Board and the Salem County Agriculture Development Committee, during which time he helped increase the number of preserved acres to more than 36,000.  He was also past president of the Salem County Board of Agriculture and was awarded the Distinguished Service Award in Agriculture in 2012.   John is survived by his wife, Kay; his son, Joshua Weber (Kimberly) of Dover, DE; his daughter, Bethany Hannah (Christian) of Pennsville, and their son, Alexander; sister, Janna Tuthill of Mannington; and nephew, Zachary Tuthill (Leslie) of Havertown, PA.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Jay Tuthill.

Services will be private, following John’s wishes.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Elsinboro Fire Company or the Salem Little League.  Contributions in John's memory may be sent to the Elsinboro Fire Co., 35 Delaware Ave., Salem, NJ 08079 or to the Salem Little League Assoc., PO Box 602, Salem, NJ 08079.
