John Gaffney, Sr.

On Monday, February 1, 2021, John Gaffney Sr., of Lower Alloway Creek, loving husband and father of three children, passed away at the age of 80.

John was born in October 1940.  On April 17, 1965, he married Harriet Hogate. They raised two daughters Edith and Veronica and one son, John Jr. He spent 38 years employed by Mannington Mills Inc. John, known by most as Ed, had a passion for golf and had a group of friends he golfed with regularly, including his best friend of 50 years, Gene. He also loved to spend time in Atlantic City with his wife and son. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and gentle spirit. He will be missed by all of us. John is survived by his wife Harriet, his three children Edith, Veronica and John Jr, his grandson’s James and Brett, step grandchildren Scott and Tori and numerous great grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by Woodside Funeral Home, and Services are private.
