Jean (Vanneman) Harris

Jean Harris, beloved family matriarch, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025, at the age of 87. 

A lifelong resident of Lower Alloways Creek, New Jersey, Jean’s legacy is one of unwavering love, strength, and dedication to her family.  Born to the late Charles and Mabel Vanneman, Jean was raised with values of kindness and resilience. She was the cherished sister of her late brothers Carl, Ralph, Roy, and Charles “Jr.” Vanneman, and her late sister Dottie, whose memories will forever be treasured by her family.  Jean was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles “Ike” Harris, who passed in 2021, as well as her sons, Eric Lee Harris and Donnie Harris, and her grandson Brandon Dean. Though her life was touched by great loss, Jean remained a beacon of grace and fortitude to all who knew her.  She is survived by her loving children: Brian (and his wife Dawn), Susan (and her husband Melvin), Bonnie (and her husband Jimmy), Charles, Aaron, and Crystal. Jean’s life was richly blessed by her many grandchildren: Brooke, Brian “BJ,” Dustin, James, Andrew H., Andrew L., Brandie, Alb, Michael, Zakary, Hunter, and Brody. Her legacy continues through her cherished great-grandchildren: Madison, Jayden, Colin, Sophia Hogate, Sophia Harris, LJ, Zechariah, Michael, Dawson, and Levi.  Jean is also survived by her devoted fur-baby, Buggers, who brought her comfort and joy.   

Jean devoted her life to her home and family. As a homemaker, she created a warm and welcoming environment where memories were made, traditions were upheld, and love was in endless supply. She was the heart of countless family gatherings and the enduring source of wisdom and comfort through generations.  Her strength, compassion, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.  Jean Harris leaves behind a family bound by her teachings, comforted by her memories, and inspired by her example.
