Hilda (Counsellor) Owens

Hilda Owens, age 96, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Cooper Hospital with family by her side.

Born on June 17, 1925 to Howard and Rachel (Sunderland) Counsellor. She was the youngest of three children. Hilda graduated from Salem High School in 1942. Married Leon E. Owens Sr on June 30, 1946. Together they raised 12 children in Quinton, NJ. She loved spending her summers in Ocean City NJ with family and friends. Her favorite times were spent outside surrounded by family and going on cruises with friends or family. 

Hilda is survived by her children: Christine (Jack) Kugler, Linda Sue (Ron) Pedrick, Judith Ambruster, Connie (Don Crum), Martin, Randy (Bonnie), Ronald (Kym), Sheila, Dawn (Carl) Howell, Raymond , daughter-in-law Mary Owens, twenty grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren with one on the way. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. Predeceased by her parents, husband Leon Sr., brother Thomas Counsellor, sister Jane Plummer, daughter Debra Emel, son Leon Jr., son-in-law Paul Ambruster and grandson Jeremiah Emel. 

Services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 7th, at WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 613 Salem Quinton Rd., Salem, NJ 08079, (Quinton Twp.) where friends may call from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Salem Co. Veteran’s Cemetery, Pilesgrove. Memorial Donations may be made in Hilda’s memory to the Quinton United Methodist Church, 55 E. Main St., Quinton, NJ 08072; or the Quinton Volunteer Ambulance Squad or Quinton Fire Co., 42 E. Main St., Quinton, NJ 08072
