Henry Nelson Obituary

Henry Neil Nelson, age 85, of Salem, passed away on Sunday, November 29th 2020, after a brief illness.

He was a lifelong resident of Salem and served as Tax Assessor for the City of Salem for 45 years. He also worked as a Repair Technician for what was New Jersey Bell for 42 years. He loved spending time with family and friends, his dog Sadie and also, enjoyed his frequent visits to the Oak Diner, Java Dog and Mama Mia’s, where he and his friends would discuss the issues of the day. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nancy (nee Webb), daughter, Lori Hook (Charles), granddaughter, Lexi George, brother, Keith Nelson (Anita), nephews, Ian Nelson (Anne) and Christopher Nelson (Jen). He was predeceased by his father, Henry J Nelson and his mother, Elizabeth Vanderslice Nelson.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Neil's Funeral Service 11:00 AM, on Friday, December 4th at WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 613 Salem-Quinton Rd., Rt 49, Quinton Twp.  A Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM.  Burial will be at the Salem County Veteran's Cemetery, Pilesgrove. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Neil’s memory to the Berean Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 68 Vine Street, Bridgeton, New Jersey 08302.
