Glendon L. Shimp, Sr., age 92, of Quinton passed away Thursday, July 15th in Salem Medical Center with his family by his side. Born in Cohansey, he was the son of the late George and Anna Sweatman Shimp. Mr. Shimp was a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a truck driver for Blue Diamond and a member of Teamsters Local 676. Glendon was a member of the VFW Post 253 of Tilbury and the Garden State 50's car club. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, the former Marion Evans; his sons, Glendon Shimp, Jr. (Bonnie) of Salem, Gary Shimp (Judy) of Woodstown, Michael Shimp (Susan) of Quinton and Brian Shimp (Tina) of Mt. Laurel; his daughter, Lisa Baynes (Michael) of Quinton; brother, George Shimp (Elizabeth) of Woodstown; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Mr. Shimp is predeceased by his son, Dennis Shimp (1995) and other family members.
Graveside Services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 21st in Salem County Veteran's Cemetery, Pilesgrove. Contributions in Glendon's memory may be sent to VFW Post 253, 20 Phillip Dr., Salem, NJ 08079 or the Quinton Ambulance Corp., PO Box 257, Quinton, NJ 08072.
