Gerald S. Hannagan, Sr., age 80, of Quinton, passed away on March 9, 2022, at Inspira Medical Center, Vineland.
Born April 5, 1941, in Wilmington, DE, to the late Joseph J. Sr. and Marjorie Casey Hannagan. He was a US Army Veteran, Green Beret. Jerry worked much of his career at PSE&G. In his retirement he, along with his wife Josephine, owned and operated Aunt Jo's Deli in Shiloh. Since the age of 15, Jerry was an avid horseman. He along with his father owned, trained and raced horses in sulky racing, and later with his wife owned and trained thoroughbreds. His last horse, Patapedia, was retired along with him, and they spent their remaining years together.
Jerry was a member of the Quinton Sportsmen's Club and had many fond memories of his time spent there with friends.
He is survived by his wife Josephine Warfle; daughter Terri Girtain (Bill) of Pennsville; son, Charles J. Hannagan of Chehalis, WA; stepdaughter Tracy Delp of Pennsville; brother, Joseph J. Hannagan, Jr. (Connie) of Quinton; and sister Janet Emmons (Leroy) of Elsinboro. He is also survived by grandsons, William Girtain, III, Joshua Girtain, Timmy Weishaupt and CJ Hannagan; granddaughters, Ashley Hannagan, Lisa Hannagan, Rebecca Holcomb, Vanessa and Kelly Delp. He is also survived by his great-granddaughter, Victoria; and many nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, Gerald is predeceased by his son, Gerald S. Hannagan, Jr.; and sister, Joan Clarke (Sam).
Graveside Services will be held 1:00 PM, Thursday, March 17th at the Salem County Veterans Cemetery, 719 Route 45; Pilesgrove, NJ 08098.
