Gary "Yock" Remster, Sr., age 80, of Alloway passed away Tuesday, January 23rd at his home. Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Henry and Philippine Laing Remster. Yock was the absolute unwavering caregiver of Claire and always put her first even when he was sick. Their marriage has been a wonderful high school sweetheart love story that flourished through the years and provided strength for both of their lives and the family. Yock was a toll collector for the Delaware River Bay Authority from 1998 to 2014. In earlier years, he was vice president of Woodstown Brick and Supply Company where he had the CB Barn and Alloway Automotive. Later he owned and operated Remster Remodeling. Yock was also an early member of the Alloway Township Police Department. He served as chief of the Alloway Twp. Fire Company from 1982 to 1984 where he was a life member. Yock served in all of the line and administrative offices of the fire department. He is survived by his wife, the former Claire Williams; his son, Gary Remster, Jr. (Dana) of Upper Deerfield; and brother, Bill Remster (Joanne) of Alloway; his grandchildren, Phil Remster (Bridgette) and Brittany Jensen (Erik); and great grandchildren, Bentley Regan, and Whitney. Yock is predeceased by his daughter,Brenda.
Services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, February 2nd in
WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 613 Salem Quinton Rd., Salem, NJ 08079 (QuintonTwp.) where friends may visit from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Alloway Methodist Cemetery. Contributions in Yock’s memory may be sent to the Alloway Township Fire Department, PO Box 875, Alloway, NJ 08001.
