Florence Seeney Obituary

Florence L. Seeney, 95, of Salem, NJ, went home to be with her Lord on the morning of March 15, 2025, at her home in St. Michaels, MD, under hospice care.

Born in Greenwich on May 10, 1929, Florence was the daughter of the late Leon Sr. and Myrtie (Pierce) Loatman. She was the beloved wife of Ronald Seeney, with whom she shared a home for over sixty years in Salem City, NJ, before relocating to St. Michaels. Florence is survived by her husband, Ronald, and her children: Marcia Ledford (Paul), Darryl Loatman, Martin Loatman, Michelle Fisher (Albert), Dwayne Seeney (Jody), and Michael Seeney. She was lovingly known as “MomMom” to her grandchildren: Dennis Loatman Jr., Deanna Loatman, Michael Ledford, Derek Ledford, Melissa Napper, Darryl Loatman, Cody Loatman, Brandon Fisher, Jacklyn Fisher, Ashley Rude, Marina Amarra , Kelsey Cole, Olivia Seeney, Bradley Seeney, Joseph Seeney, and Evilyn Seeney, as well as several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Dennis A. Loatman Sr., daughter Ronda Amarra, daughter-in-law Annette Loatman, sisters Bertha Rivera, Edith Williams, and Elsie Webster, and brothers Leon Loatman Jr. and Raymond Loatman.

Florence dedicated 28 years to Anchor Hocking Glass Company, retiring in 1985. She was deeply involved in her community, volunteering with the Women’s Crisis Center, March of Dimes, United Way, and the Salem Democrat Club. She also worked election polls for many years, was a member of the Salem County Senior Olympians, and spent time as an Avon representative. She was a devoted member of Park Bible Baptist Church. Florence loved reading and spending time with family and friends. Her sweet potato casserole was a beloved staple at Thanksgiving dinners, a tradition that will carry on in her memory. She found great joy in traveling, often vacationing with her children and grandchildren, especially to the beach, which she adored. She and her travel partner, Elsie Seeney, went everywhere together, and their Hawaiian cruise was the trip of a lifetime. Florence was funny, strong-willed, and deeply devoted to her family, who will miss her dearly. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
