Elizabeth "Betty" (Oleson) Simons

Elizabeth "Betty" Simons, age 90, of Alloway, NJ passed away Tuesday, March 12th 2024 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Etta and Tim Phillips. 

Born in Salem, she is the daughter of the late Elmer and Etta Jordan Oleson.  Elizabeth was a loving wife, mother and grandmother with a quiet, humble spirit but she had great boldness in her faith and she inspired all whom she met.  Elizabeth was known for her love of gospel music, singing with her children, even in the tomato fields as well as with John Bobbitt and his group. She watched The Gaithers everyday for decades .  She was a powerful prayer warrior, praying for everyone who had a need.  Elizabeth enjoyed hosting Sunday dinners for family, baking and always caring for others, doing it all with love.  With a fantastic sense of humor and a razor sharp wit she brought laughter to all who loved her.  She made the world a brighter place with her own form of "sunshine."  Elizabeth will be remembered with love and laughter.  She is survived by her son, Warren Simons, Jr. of Alloway and her foster son, Robert Cheesman of Alloway; her daughters, Patricia Lohmeyer (Charles) of High Point, NC and Etta Phillips (Tim) of Alloway; daughter in law Margaret Simons stepbrother, Michael Dillon of DE and Richard Dillon of DE; 16 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren.  Elizabeth is predeceased by her husband, Warren R. Simons, Sr. (Barney); her son, Donald L. Simons; and her, brothers, Clarence Oleson, Harry Oleson and Buddy Oleson.

Services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 16th in WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 613 Salem Quinton Rd., Salem, NJ 07079 (Quinton Twp) where family and friends may also visit from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Lawnside Cemetery, Pilesgrove, NJ.
