Edward Harry Lawrence of Pennsville, New Jersey passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Southgate Nursing Home in Carneys Point, New Jersey.
Ed was born in Salem, NJ on January 27, 1942 and has been a lifelong resident of Salem County. Ed graduated from Salem High School in 1960 and entered the U.S. Navy, where he served his country for four years. Ed was a mold maker at Gaynor Glass Works in Salem until 1977. He then worked at Wheaton Glass Company in Millville and Egg Harbor Township, NJ until his retirement in 2006. Ed was an avid hunter in his earlier years and has always enjoyed fishing. He was a longtime member of the Salem County Sportsmen's Club where he served as a director, advisor and, most recently, cook for the Tuesday Work Gang. Ed is survived by his wife of 54 years Sarah (Catalano) of Pennsville; son, David and wife, Lesley (Saul) of Pennsville; grandchildren, David II of Pompano Beach, Florida as well as Rachel, Abigail and Joshua of Pennsville. He is predeceased by his parents, Oscar and Myrtle (Doughty) Lawrence.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at St. Marys Church located at 25 Oak Street in Salem, NJ. Friends may call from 9:30 - 10:15 AM at WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 613 Salem-Quinton Rd, Salem, NJ 08079. Interment will be at St. Marys Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations made in Edward's name to St. Marys Church, or the Salem County Christian Academy, 104 Sparks Ave., Pennsville, NJ 08070.
