Doris Dilks Moore Obituary

Doris Erb Dilks Moore, age 93, of Alloway passed away Monday, May 31st at home.  Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Elizabeth Hogate Erb.  

Doris was a homemaker who enjoyed making bean soup and homemade cocoa for her family and friends attending the Alloway Halloween Parade at her home every year.  The only parade she missed was the year she went to Spain.  Doris was a member of the Alloway United Methodist Church for over 80 years where she taught Sunday School, was a trustee, a chairman of the administrative council and was the President of the United Methodist Women.  Over the years, Doris was devoted to serving the community as secretary and treasurer of the VFW Post 8224 Ladies Auxiliary, a 35 year volunteer for Meals on Wheels, the WHS Class of 1945 Reunion Committee Member/Chair, a NJ Hunter Safety Education Instructor, a organizing member of the Alloway
Township Youth League, a member/officer of the Alloway Township Senior Citizens and the Pairs and Spares Club. Doris was an avid collector of lighthouses and nutcrackers who enjoyed spending time with her family. 

She is survived by her sons, Raymond Dilks, Jr. (Debra), James Dilks and Mickey Dilks; children, Linda Morgan(Phil), Patricia Murphy (Dan), Rob Moore (Shelley) and David Moore (Sue); 20 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Doris is predeceased by her husbands, Raymond Dilks, Sr. and Robert Moore; her son, Donald Dilks; daughters-in laws, Peg Dilks and Judy Dilks; her great grandson, Daulton Dilks; brothers, Phil Erb and Lewis Erb; sisters, Ella Smith and Elizabeth Hogate.  

Services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 8th, in WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 613 Salem Quinton Rd., Salem, NJ 08079 (Quinton Twp.) where friends may call after 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Alloway United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Doris shared many stories of growing up in Alloway and the history of the town she lived in since her birth. She will be missed by many.
