Donald David Conrad, age 71, of Alloway passed away at the Cooper University Medical Center on Saturday, June 15 in Camden, NJ.
Born in Wilmington, Delaware, he was the son of the late Ralph and Helen Garrison Conrad. Donald was an electrician employed by Russ Emmons Electric before retiring. He was a member of the Alloway Township Veterans Association and the Alloway Township Youth League. Donnie was an outstanding athlete. He graduated from Pennsville High School in 1970, excelling in football, baseball and basketball, where he fondly became known as “Hawk”. He continued playing sports well into his later years. In the 1980s, his love of sports transcended into coaching the youth of Alloway, leading them to many championship seasons. His natural ability to coach was undeniable. In his spare time, he loved fishing on his boat, the DC Hawk, searching for the “big one”. Don did his own thing throughout life and lived it to the fullest.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, JoAnn; his daughters, Brooke Conrad of Alloway and Tara Pedrick (Barry) of Alloway; brother, Gerald Conrad (Colleen) of Pennsville; sister, Karen Cooksey (John) of Pennsville; grandson, Richie Stuart III of Alloway; and great granddaughter Ryleigh Stuart. Don had many loving nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers, Stanley Conrad and Ralph Conrad.
A celebration of life will be held at the Alloway Township Veterans Association on Saturday, June 29th at 3:00PM.
