Diane Rittman Obituary

Diane Rittman, age 69, a twenty-year resident of Alloway Twp. passed away suddenly and unexpectedly Thursday, July 24th 2025.

Born in New Brunswick, NJ, she was a woman whose heart overflowed with kindness, compassion, and an enduring love for the simple joys of life. Though she held various jobs over the years—as a bank teller, customer service representative, data entry, and in a nursing home— yet her life’s true calling was that of a homemaker and devoted mother. Her home was filled with warmth, laughter, and the gentle sound of birds outside her window—especially cardinals and hummingbirds, which she adored.

Diane was deeply committed to serving others. She volunteered her time helping adults learn to read, providing transportation, running errands, and assisting at the Ranch Hope Thrift Store —small acts of service that meant the world to those around her. Her faith was central to her life, and she was an active member of Kingsway Baptist Church in Mickleton, NJ. Over the years, she also taught Sunday school and served as a teacher’s aid for children with special needs. She always gave of herself—sometimes more than she had to give—putting others’ needs before her own, and doing so with humility and grace.

She had a passion for politics and even ran for office, never afraid to stand up for what she believed in. But Diane also found joy in quiet moments: sitting on the beach, fishing, walking the boardwalk, going to Longwood Gardens, or simply taking a ride with her husband and family. She loved reading, writing (often dreaming of publishing a book), tending her flowers, playing board games, rooting for her Phillies, and spending time with her husband, son, daughter-in-law, and grandson, who brought her endless joy.

Holidays were Diane’s favorite time of year—especially Christmas and Thanksgiving. Her home came alive with decorations, the smell of her famous holiday meals, and laughter that echoed through the walls.

Above all, Diane will be remembered for her gentle soul, her sense of humor, and her gift for listening with genuine interest and encouragement. She found beauty and joy in the smallest moments and gave generously from the depths of her heart. Her legacy of love, service, and quiet strength lives on in all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Diane is survived by her husband, Wayne Rittman; her son, Matthew and daughter-in-law, Heather; and her grandson.  Services will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, August 1st, 2025, at Kingsway Baptist Church, 744 Kings Highway, Mickleton, NJ 08056.  A visitation will be held at the church for family and friends from 12:00 noon until time of service.  Burial will follow at Fernwood Memorial Cemetery, 794 Shiloh Pike, Bridgeton, NJ 08302 (located in Hopewell Twp.)
