David L. Shimp, Jr.

David L. Shimp Jr., 78, of Quinton Township, N.J., passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 20, 2025.

Born in Salem, N.J., David was the son of the late David Sr. and Frances Miles Shimp. He dedicated many years of his career as a machinist at Mannington Mills before retiring. A true craftsman, David had a remarkable ability to fix anything and took great pride in working with his hands. His passions included farming and his love for Ford Mustangs. 

David was preceded in death by the love of his life, Ruth (nee James); his son, David L. Shimp III; and his sister, Sharon Legg. He is survived by his children, Joe Shimp of Quinton and Teresa Christoff (John) of Quinton; his brother, Ivan Shimp (Betty) of Pennsville; his daughter-in-law, Kristina Shimp; his grandchildren, Ashleigh O'Neal, J.R., Nicholas (Selena), Cassandra (Sean), Alexander, Jacob, and Devin; and his great-grandchildren, Haleigh, Malia, Turner, and Rory.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, March 28, at Woodside Funeral Home, 613 Salem-Quinton Rd., Salem, NJ 08079 (located in Quinton Township).  Friends and family may call between 10:30 AM and 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Friesburg Lutheran Cemetery.
