Carole Jane Green

Carole Jane Green, age 84, of Quinton, NJ passed away Monday, March 23rd 2026 at Christiana Hospital, Newark, Delaware.

Born in  Hancock, New York, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Thelma Schoonmaker Zerfass.  She was a Salem High School Class of 59 graduate.  Before her retirement, Carole was the secretary to the principal of the Salem Middle School, Salem, NJ for 26 years.  Back in the day, Carole and her husband, Frank, were DJs and everyone knew them as  "Sensoround".  One of her favorite things was to go to yard sales and having them in the yard with her dad.  She also enjoyed gardening, going out every morning to feed the birds, and taking care of her girls, her kitties, Lucy and Snickers.  Carole looked forward to spending her Wednesday’s at the Brown Derby with her “Buddies”, going out to lunch with her friends at Creekside once a month and going to dinner with her friend Betty.  More importantly, she loved talking about her kids and grandkids. 

Carole is survived by her sons, Gary Cheeseman (Pamela) of Pennsville, and Mark Cheeseman (Maria) of Alloway; her daughters, Sharon Harris and companion, Dale of Salem, Debby Cheeseman and her companion, Steve of Salem and Donna Emel (David) of Mannington; her sister, Nancy Sutton (Jack) of Mannington; her grandchildren, Stevie Smith, Gary Cheeseman, Gia Allen (Matt), Dave Emel, Dillan Emel, Matthew Cheeseman and Emily Cheeseman; her great grandchildren, Gunnar and Granger Allen.  Many nieces and nephews and her cousins from Hancock.  Carole is predeceased by her husband, Frank Green.

Services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 31st 2026 at WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 613 Salem Quinton Rd., Salem, NJ 08079(located in Quinton Twp) where family and friends may visit from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.  Burial will be in Salem County Veterans Cemetery, 719 Route 45, Piles grove, NJ 08098.
