Agnes Z. Madara, age 94, of Salem passed away peacefully Friday, January 27th at The Memorial Hospital of Salem County.
Born in Haverstraw, New York, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Zajac. She graduated from New York Ag-Tech School at Alfred University as a hospital laboratory technician. Agnes worked as a hospital laboratory technician in hospitals in Bradford Pennsylvania, Middletown New York and Salem County Memorial Hospital at its opening. She also worked as a substitute teacher in the Salem City School District for many years. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold in 1985 and by three brothers and two sisters.
Agnes is survived by her four sons, Michael (Anne) of South Carolina, James (Donna) of Pennsville, William (Cindy) of Pennsville and Richard (Jan) of Pittsgrove. She is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Agnes was a member of St. Gabriel the ArchAngel Parish. Agnes, who was an avid Phillies fan, enjoyed reading, watching television and trips to the casinos. The family would like to thank everyone at Merion Gardens, The Memorial Hospital of Salem County and Ennoble Hospice for their excellent care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Agnes' memory may be sent to the donor's favorite charity. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:30 AM, Wednesday, February 1st, in Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 25 Oak Street, Salem, NJ 08079. There will be no viewing. Interment will immediately follow the mass at Saint Mary's Cemetery.
