Paul G. Pankok, age 89, of Salem passed away Wednesday, May 3rd in Southgate Health Care Center, Carneys Point. Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Gustav and Minna Bierman Pankoke. Mr. Pankok was a lear mechanic for Anchor Glass of Salem, retiring with 38 years of service. He also was employed with the Salem City Street Department for 25 years. Paul was an exempt fireman with the Liberty No. 2 Fire Company of Salem. He began his fire fighting career in 1947 where he was a city battalion chief accumulating 70 years of service and he also was the secretary for the Salem Fireman's Relief Assoc. Paul was a member of St. Mary's Church of Salem and Salem Country Club and a former member of the Eagle's Lodge No. 1966 of Salem. He was a member of the civil air patrol during WWII. Paul is survived by his sons, PJ (Paul John) Pankok (Kim) of Quinton and Eric Pankok of Salem; his daughters, Elizabeth Davis (Ernie) of Salem, Joanne Spicer (Dale) of Montour Falls, NY and Christine Fisher (Chuck) of Elsinboro; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth Jones of Carneys Point and Angnes Williams (David) of Anniston, Al; sisters-in-law, Kathleen Ivanitski and Stella Makin; and brother-in-law, Ronald Sanasac. He is predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Makin Pankok.

Mass of Christian Burial will be said 11:00 AM Monday, May 8th in St. Mary's Church, 25 Oak Street, Salem. Friends may call at WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME 34 Oak Street, Salem from 10:00 to 10:45 AM before the Mass and from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday evening, May 7th at the funeral home.
