Lon Gary Elk

Lon Gary Elk, age 65, of Salem passed away August 24th 2019 in Cooper University Medical Center, Camden, NJ. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Harris Elk.  Lon was an avid outdoorsman and was at his happiest when hunting or fishing.  Lon was a painting contractor who worked with his brother, Jack Elk and his nephew, Joe Elk.  He was often seen hanging off a ladder at a house, church or business building in Salem County.  Lon also worked with Habitat for Humanity building homes.  He is survived by his brothers, Jack Elk (Janet), Robert Elk (Betty Lou) and Richard Elk; his sisters, Suzanne Zane and Mary Ellen Harris (Joel).  He also leaves behind his two canine children, Spike and Blue.  Lon will be remembered fondly by his eight nieces and nephews, four great nieces and nephews and four great-great nieces. 

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 21st in Eastview Cemetery, Salem.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lon's memory may be made to the Salem County Humane Society, PO Box 214, N. Game Creek Rd., Carneys Point, NJ 08069.
