Helen C. Earnest, age 85, of Woodstown passed away Monday, May 20th in Cooper University Medical Center, Camden.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Neil and Annetta Henderson Christison. Mrs. Earnest was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, doing word puzzles and was an avid reader. When she lived in Alloway, she babysat for those in the community. Mrs. Earnest was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Mannington where she belonged to the Women's Ministry Club. She is survived by her sons, John Earnest, Jr. (Sue) of Whiting, NJ, Daniel Earnest (Diane) of Emory, South Dakota, Joseph Earnest (Lorran) of LAC and Frank Earnest (Peggy) of Pennsville; her daughters, Beverly Earnest of Woodstown and Sarah Miller (Chuck) of Carneys Point; brother, Lawrence Christison of SC; and sister-in-law, Lil Mulford of Alloway; 14 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Earnest is predeceased by her husband, John Earnest, Sr.; sister, Laura Bell Wardle; and brother, Neil Christison.
Services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, May 24th in the First Assembly of God Church, 430 Route 45, Mannigton where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM and also Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the church. Burial will be in the Salem Baptist Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to the First Assembly of God Church, 430, Rt. 45, Salem, NJ 08079 or the Salem County Adult Day Care, 53 S. Broad St., Penns Grove, NJ 08069.
