Harold F. Mitchell, age 92, of Lower Alloways Creek passed away Monday, January 8th at his home.
Born in Porth Leven, Cornwall England, he was the son of the late William and Janie Downing Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell was a US Navy veteran who flew a PV1 patrol bomber off the coast of Seattle, Washington during WWII. Before his retirement, he was a general foreman in aircraft maintenance for Atlantic Aviation in New Castle, DE. Harold was a member of the Salem County RC Club, Salem County Gas Engine Club and was on the LAC Historic committee. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, football, auto racing, listening to and playing all kinds of music, going to auctions and yard sales, as well as flying radio controlled model airplanes. Harold is survived by his son, Bruce Mitchell (Nancy) of LAC; his daughter, Janet Smith of LAC; grandchildren, Daniel Mitchell of LAC, Michael Mitchell of Carneys Point, Jeremy Smith of Cape May Court House and Noel Ingram of Savannah, GA; and his great grandchildren, Logan Smith, Gavin Smith, Cameron Smith, Callen Ingram, Ellis Rose Ingram, Riley Joan Mitchell and Clara Jane Mitchell. Harold is predeceased by his wife, Rose Altimore Mitchell.
Services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 11th in WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 613 Salem-Quinton Rd., Rt. 49, Quinton Twp. where friends may call after 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Bethel Memorial Park, 1620 Cove Rd., Pennsauken, NJ. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Canton United Methodist Church, 918 Main St., Canton, Salem, NJ 08079.
