Gerald W. Pentecost, age 89, of Lower Alloway's Creek passed away Tuesday, April 2nd in Salem County Medical Center.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late James and Goldie Smith Pentecost. Before his retirement, Mr. Pentecost was an engineer for the E.I. DuPont Co. Chamber's Works. He was Marine veteran of the Korean Conflict. Mr. Pentecost was a member of the United Methodist Church of Hancock's Bridge, Penns Grove Excelsior Lodge #54 F&AM, DuPont Pensioners, Alloway Veteran's Assoc., American Legion Post 75 where he was a past state commander, Life member of the Marine Corp. League, LAC Fire Co. and a past member of the LAC Ruritan Club. He is survived by his wife, the former, Betty Ridgway; his daughters, Sandra Collins (George) of Land Between the Lakes, KY and Dottie Coleman (Skip) of LAC; sister, Virginia Ahl (George) of Salem; 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; and his beloved dog, "BO". He is predeceased by his brother, Kenny Pentecost.
Services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 6th in WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 613 Salem-Quinton Rd., Rt. 49, Quinton Twp. where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial with military honors will be held in Salem County Veteran's Cemetery, Pilesgrove.
