Douglas S. Smigelski, age 56, of Shiloh, New Jersey died suddenly in an automobile accident early Wednesday, March 6th.
He was born in Salem, and graduated from Pennsville High School where he went on to become a certified welder at Welder Training & Testing Institute in Pennsauken. He was employed at Mannington Mills as a millright for 20 years and was recently employed at Congoleum. Doug was an avid hunter, and also enjoyed welding, fishing, crabbing, boating, and being in the outdoors. He is survived by his wife, Beth Parkell; his father, Hubert Smigelski; his son, Hunter Smigelski (Brandee); stepson Eric Hewitt (Jennifer); stepdaughter, Krista Goodrich (Greg); brothers, Hubert Smigelski (Lorraine), Kenny Smigelski, Matthew Smigelski (Brandy); sister, Donna Milligan (Don); stepbrothers, Mark North (Diana), David North (Holly); stepsister, Susan Warriner (Leroy); grandchildren, Conner, Emily, Eric Jr., Kylie and Lucas (predeceased). Doug is predeceased by his mother, Patsy Whitesall and his stepmother, Mae Garrett.
Services will be held on Tuesday, March 12th from 3:00 to 5:00 PM in WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 34 Oak Street, Salem. In lieu of flowers donations in Doug's memory may be sent to the Buckhorn Sportsman's Club, PO Box 237, Hancock's Bridge, NJ 08038.
