Dorothea (Thea) Henson, went to be with the Lord on August 13, 2018. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Thea was born on October 12, 1946 in Wilmington, De. She was a hairdresser for 50 years and most recently worked part-time at His & Hers Salon in Elsinboro, NJ. She loved her job and working with all her clients. Thea was a long time member of the Union Presbyterian Church where she served on the Session, Head of Sacraments & Services Committee, Head Usher, on the church Centennial Committee and played in the Bell Choir. She also organized several dinners at the church and was always willing to help out whenever needed. Thea & her husband were members of the Sakima Country Club. They enjoyed Saturday evenings at the club with friends. She also had season tickets with friends from the Sakima to the Broadway Theatre in Pitman, NJ. During the summer she loved going to Sea Isle City with her family and relaxing on the beach and her trips in the fall to South Dakota to visit with her sister and her family. Thea enjoyed doing many different types of crafts and working out in her gardens. If she wasn’t doing that she was relaxing at the back yard pool. Thea graduated from Pennsville High School in 1964. Thea is predeceased by her parents Phillip and Dorothy Zane and her sister Phyllis Garris. She is survived her husband Kenneth (Shag) of 44 years, her sister Susan Banabei (Ashton) of South Dakota, her Daughter Erin (Scott) Young of Pennsville, Grandson (her Buttercup) Colton, Pennsville, her grandson Ben Young, Pennsville, step-daughters Kim & Gwen and children of Florida and several nieces, nephews, cousins, Aunts and Uncles. A Memorial Service will be held at Union Presbyterian Church 254 Shell Rd. Carney’s Point on Friday Aug 17th at 12:00 pm. Friends may call from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm. Interment will be private at the family’s discretion. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Union Presbyterian Memorial Fund.
